WRINKLE RELAXERS
Wrinkle relaxers, often referred to as Botox, neurotoxins, or neuromodulators, are injectable treatments designed to smooth fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing facial muscles.
-
Dynamic wrinkles form over time due to repetitive facial movements, such as frowning, squinting, and raising the eyebrows. Neurotoxins work by:
Blocking Nerve Signals: The injected neuromodulator temporarily interrupts the communication between nerves and muscles.
Relaxing the Muscles: Without strong contractions, the skin above the muscle remains smooth and relaxed.
Reducing Wrinkles: Over the next few days, fine lines and wrinkles soften, giving a more refreshed and youthful appearance.
-
Procedure Time: Quick and minimally invasive, typically 10-20 minutes
Results: Start to appear within 3-7 days, with full effects in about 14 days
Duration: Typically lasts 3-4 months, depending on the individual and treatment area
Downtime: Minimal to none, with some patients experiencing slight redness or swelling at the injection site

Patients should be advised to seek immediate medical care if swallowing, speech, or respiratory disorders occur.
